A series of vignettes set in one hometown coffee shop follows a cast of diverse, eclectic characters through a day filled with adventure, hurt, laughter, and hope. Chapter One: Bunker Down - On his first day as a barista, Teddy is trained by coffee-making veteran Kelvin. When Kelvin takes Teddy into the basement, the training takes an unexpected turn. Chapter Two: Christian Boyfriend - A young women’s Bible study group meets at the coffee shop, and one participant shares news that shocks everyone. Chapter Three: Got Your Back - Two Black women attorneys sit down for lunch, reflecting on the struggle of being a double minority in a cutthroat industry. Chapter Four: Not Again - Control-freak Hannah hopes that her boyfriend, Roger, has the balls to propose to her. But his proposition is not what she was expecting. Chapter Five: You Are Your Own Being - Two college friends have a late study date, when one opens up about a painful experience with her father. Chapter Six: Waiting - Early morning at the coffee shop, a group of patrons and baristas decide to quit waiting for their best lives to begin and take matters into their own hands.
